Primary school teacher Anna Marotta loved running, spending time at Sydney’s Northern beaches where she lived, and with her close family and friends.
In early 2012, after competing in a half marathon she felt it took her much longer than usual to recover, but put it down to just muscle pain. It wasn’t until early October 2012, after numerous physio and doctor visits that Anna was diagnosed with a synovial sarcoma in her left thigh.
Despite beginning an intense chemotherapy treatment, surgery and rehab, Anna remained optimistic her outcome would be positive. And so it was six months later, with a beautiful headpiece to cover her hair loss and her leg in a cast specially designed at Lifehouse, she not only was able to walk down the aisle but to dance the night away on her special day.
Anna sadly passed away on 13 October 2017.
"Lifehouse has been amazing. I love that everything I need medically is in the one building. In one day I can have blood tests, scans, doctor consultations, treatment, (eat delicious hot chips) and even have some reflexology, all in the one place. The level of care I have received from both staff and volunteers is outstanding."
