Jake's story
Wednesday 6th MarFour years ago in kindergarten, with the coolest overgrown hair during the Covid 2020 lockdown, Jake found out from his Mum that people could donate their hair to make wigs for children with sicknesses or conditions. Straight away, he decided this is what he wanted to do.
Now in Year 4, Jake’s been working on this goal for over four whole years! (with only one big trim in Year 1 to correct his Covid home-job hack). Throughout, and especially during the first few years, cute ambitious Jake would constantly request we’d measure his hair with a ruler to monitor his progress. His even inspired a few friends to donate their ponytails.
Not only does he have the most gentle caring heart, but Jake’s shown great perseverance and dedication to make a difference to those impacted by conditions and sicknesses. He’s also demonstrated exceptional resilience and maturity in the face of gender assumptions, old fashioned ideologies and the odd taunt. His parents, family and friends couldn’t be any more proud of him.
