104 Kilometers of Hope: Our Bike Ride to Fuel Brain Tumour Research

Monday 25th Mar
We did it! After 4 hours and 46 minutes of gruelling climbs totalling 1,843 meters through the gorgeous Ku-ring-ai National Park, we crossed the finish line of our 104-kilometer bike ride. Sweat-drenched and exhausted, the biggest reward was knowing that thanks to your incredible support, we raised $2,527 for life-changing brain tumour research!

The Why: Fighting for a Breakthrough
Brain tumors are a devastating diagnosis, and sadly, treatment options haven't advanced much in the last few decades. That's why we were inspired to support Professor Lacey and her team at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. They're pioneering the use of naturopathic approaches alongside traditional treatments – think cannabis, specific dietary changes, and more – and these methods are showing incredibly promising results.

The Journey: Training, Sweat, and Pure Determination
This ride wasn't just a physical challenge. It was a journey of sweat, sore muscles, and the deep-seated belief that we could make a difference. At the 80km mark, I learned first hand that your hip abductors could cramp!  Knowing the impact this ride could have motivated us with each pedal stroke.

Huge Gratitude
We can't say it enough: THANK YOU! Your generosity pushed us up those tough hills and made this whole experience possible.  Because of you, we're helping to create a future where brain tumors have better treatment options.

This is Just the Beginning
If you haven't donated yet, you can still help fuel this vital research. We're so proud of what we've accomplished together, and this is just the start of our commitment to this cause.

Call to Action!
Please share this post and spread the word about the amazing work being done at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. Together, we can ignite hope and bring about real change for those battling brain tumors. #BrainTumorResearch #NaturopathicMedicine #RideForHope

Bobbo Bike Ride - Progress Update

Monday 11th Mar
First and foremost, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us with their generous sponsorships so far. Your encouragement fuels our determination and makes every pedal stroke more meaningful as we gear up for the 104KM Bobbo Cycle on the 24th of March, all in the name of brain tumour research.

This past Sunday marked a significant milestone in our training journey. I managed to complete my longest ride yet, covering just over 90KM in 4 hours and 45 minutes. To say it was challenging would be an understatement. By the evening, the concept of moving my legs seemed like a distant memory.

Joe was my riding partner for 50KM of this journey, and together, we took in the stunning vistas around Palm Beach, Whale Beach, Church Point, and Bayview. The beauty of these locations served as a perfect backdrop, reminding us of the larger purpose of our ride. It's moments like these, amidst the natural splendour and camaraderie, that the essence of our mission becomes even clearer.

With just two weeks to go until the big day, anticipation and excitement are building. The physical and mental preparation for this event has been intense, but knowing the impact our efforts could have makes every challenge worth facing. We ride not just for the physical accomplishment but to support groundbreaking research led by Professor Lacey and her team at the Chris O'Brian Lifehouse. Their work in integrating naturopathic practices with conventional treatments offers new hope in the battle against brain tumours.

We're so grateful for the support we've received thus far and encourage anyone who hasn't yet sponsored us to consider doing so. Your contribution goes directly towards funding vital research that could change the future for those affected by brain tumours.

As the countdown to the Bobbo Cycle continues, we remain focused and motivated. The journey has been as rewarding as it has been challenging, and we look forward to sharing this experience with all of you. Let's keep the momentum going strong. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against brain tumours.

Thank you, once again, for your support. We can't wait to hit the road and ride for a cause that's close to our hearts. Here's to making every kilometre count!

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the big day. Let's do this!

We are doing the 104KM Bobbo Bike Ride

Wednesday 6th Mar
Join Joe, Rob, and Adam as they embark on an inspiring journey – the 104KM Bobbo Cycle on the 24th March. This isn't just any ride; it's a mission fuelled by hope, determination, and a collective spirit to make a difference in the world of brain tumour research.

Brain tumours represent a challenging frontier in medical science, with treatment advancements having remained stagnant for the last two decades. In recent years, a ray of hope has emerged through naturopathic approaches, including the use of cannabis, mushrooms and specific dietary changes to name a few.  All are showing promising results in the fight against this rare disease. Despite these advancements, funding for research remains critically low, hindering the potential for breakthroughs.

That's why our trio is pedalling with a purpose – to support Professor Lacey and her dedicated team at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, who are at the forefront of integrating naturopathic practices with traditional treatments for brain tumour patients. This ride is more than a physical challenge; it's a beacon of support for innovative research that could transform the lives of those battling brain tumours.

Your encouragement and donations will propel Joe, Rob, and Adam forward on their journey and, more importantly, contribute to a future where brain tumours can be treated more effectively. Together, we can make a difference. Let's ride for hope, let's ride for life.

Thank you to my Sponsors
