As many of you know, my beautiful Mum left this earth a year ago when she lost her battle with a rare form of Ovarian Cancer. (My heart is still heavy and very much broken). My mum was the one who encouraged me to donate my hair to kids with cancer as she knew how it felt to lose all her hair from chemo. (And anyone who knows Mum knew that she loved children and always was thinking about how to help children any way she could!) 

It is bittersweet because I thought Mum would be here when I cut my hair to donate but it’s taken nearly two years for me to grow it out this long. The stress, heartbreak and all those emotions in between meant that my hair didn’t grow as fast as it usually would…. But the time has come and I’ll be cutting my hair short to donate on Saturday 3rd October! 

The boys in our family ran the Sydney half marathon this year and the proceeds went to Ovarian cancer…. So now I’m fundraising for the Chris O Brien centre! They are currently helping so many people (some of our nearest and dearest) and we are so grateful for everything they have done so far. 

So, I’m going to donate my hair to a charity that will make wigs for children with cancer AND fundraise - because helping two charities is always going to be a win!
