For those who know me, you'd know I'm no stranger to shaving my head. This shave goes deep for me, having family and friends across my life who've been affected by cancer.
I know the value a donation can have in creating positive outcomes for people with cancer and supporting world-class cancer care and research. This is an opportunity for us to create a tangible impact together.
In good spirits, the highest donor is welcome to shave my head to incentivise contributions. Any contributions you can offer can make a world of difference. Together we can create change.

When I was 11 years old my cousin was diagnosed with cancer, what could I do to create change?
G'day everyone my name's Nathan and I believe we have the collective power to create change.
Professionally I am fortunate to work as a Zookeeper, Guest Experience Coordinator, Veterinary Nurse and Ambassador for Vocational Education. I will always do what I can to care for people and animals in the brightest and darkest moments of their lives and everything in between. I am a true believer in the phrase "one team, one dream", that we can achieve anything together.
To celebrate my upcoming 21st birthday I've decided to shave my hair to raise critical funds for the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.
10 years ago I came to fundraise for the Lifehouse as an eleven-year-old child, still learning much about the world and myself. At the time my cousin was being treated for cancer at Chris O’Brien, she thankfully went into remission because of her treatment and now leads a life advocating for wildlife and the environment all over Australia, a cause she truly believes in. Despite going into remission she lives every day with the impacts that cancer has had on her. Shaving my hair was a way that I felt like I could create change to support the world-leading cancer treatments and research the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse does. With a goal of $1,000 I ended up raising $4,436 in 2015. I watched a community come together to create change and that was inspiring.
Last year another of my family members was diagnosed with cancer and received radiation therapy at the Royal North Shore Hospital. It was challenging for me to experience the impact that cancer had on them and how confronting reliving those experiences became. Thankfully they went into remission last year with no regrowth on their most recent scans. It cemented for me how important it is to make the most of each moment and made me think deeply about what legacy we create in the world.
As I approach my 21st birthday and now shave on the 4th of March, I have thought deeply about what's important to me and the positive change I want to create in this world. From the family and friends in my life, I have always valued the light and hope that the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse brings to people affected by cancer and doing everything possible to keep that light bright.
I hope to be a small part of creating change for others and that my story has resonated with you.
