Over the last 6. months, things have certainly changed dramatically for us. My husband Nick, who is a healthy 60-year-old, had a number of seizures on Christmas eve 2020 in the local supermarket. We have had untold tests and more seizures. It has now become apparent that it is due to a brain tumor. We are awaiting news on its aggressiveness - currently, we know it is at least a grade 3 astrocytoma. The Chris O'Brien Lifehouse is an amazing place with amazing people. We need to raise more money for more research into brain cancer. I do hope you watched Brindha Shivalingam on 'A Current Affair' Monday 7 June 2021. She is a wonderful, compassionate person who is also a past Newington mum and Head Neurosurgeon (as is Lisa Horvath who has been a godsend for us during this time and she is also the director of Medical Oncology at the Lifehouse). Lisa is also a Newington mum.
The problem the doctors have with dealing with such a rare type of cancer is that there is a real lack of funding for research with respect to the more. common types of cancer like lung, liver, etc. Any money we can raise to help this will go straight to this cause.
