Our Story
Monday 12th Jan
We (Nigel and Ann) are keen adventurers and fundraisers, having climbed, trekked and cycled many parts of this amazing world, racking up thousands of kilometers and thousands of vertical metres in pursuit of new challenges. At the same time, we have put our bodies on the line to raise money for research into the treatment of all forms of cancer, and in supporting those undergoing treatment.
Our own families have been touched by cancer in many forms over the years, as have friends, colleagues and neighbours. This is our way of helping out, so this is your chance to help us help others.
Over 6 weeks in May/June, we plan to ride a circuit commencing in Copenhagen, heading southwest and then north to the northern tip of Denmark. After a ferry ride to Gothenberg in Sweden, we will head north into Norway to Oslo, then east across Sweden to Stockholm, and finally southwest back to Copenhagen. Over a total of 29 riding days we will cover somewhere between 2,300km and 2,400km, just the two of us and our bikes.
This journey will be similar in length to our 2025 Amsterdam to Budapest journey (2,389km), albeit by the look of the daily profiles maybe a few more hills to tackle!
Our Gear: Merida Speeder 100 hybrid road bikes, 2 x Ortlieb back roller panniers each, Topeak bar bag (Nigel). We will each carry about 6kg of gear, that’s all. EVERY gram counts.
Each day: Our plan has us riding on average 80km per day, some shorter, some longer, with our longest day a 122km journey heading south in Sweden. We will take a rest day after every fourth day on the bikes, with additional days in both Oslo and Stockholm to take in the sights of these wonderful cities.
More to come.
Help us help others.
With thanks, Nigel and Ann
