For the last 4 years you might be aware that over the course of July I have participated in a zero alcohol month and set after various fitness challenges in order to raise awareness and funds for both the Leukaemia Foundation and Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. Both fantastic charities, and those near to my heart. So far the total has been just shy of $23,000… speechless.
Last year was by far the most challenging to date - my goal was a half triathlon everyday, no alcohol, no coffee and to even inspire one person to join me along the way. Your support and participation was so incredibly humbling - together we achieved 33 half triathlons in the month, and raised just under $15,000 for Lifehouse.
This year my goal is 40. A half triathlon every weekday, a full one each Saturday and Sunday, and one spare. No alcohol, no coffee and no red meat - 3 of my biggest joys. I’ll be raising money for Lifehouse, aiming to raise funds to improve the future of patient outcomes for those affected by cancer. It’ll be a struggle to do this alone! Please join me for a run, cycle or swim at any point!! I’ll be personally contributing $10 per half triathlon completed, and $10 for every individual who joins me. This month is dedicated to my late dear friend, Fergus McCulla - who was a patient at Lifehouse. Fergus embodied what unwavering love, positivity, compassion and humility look like. Even at the worst of times. He is my inspiration.
