"Liam (pictured right) and I were colleagues who joined the same work team within 3 months of each other, 10 years ago. We quickly bonded over our shared love for indoor rock climbing, coffee, and chocolate. We would often go for walks during lunch breaks and even spent Christmases together.
Liam had a beloved French bulldog named Panzer. He once mentioned wanting to get a tattoo of Panzer but unfortunately never got the chance. After his passing, I decided to honor his memory by getting a tattoo of Panzer with Liam’s hand included in the design. I wanted to do something that would honior Liam and his journey while also raising money for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse that helped him along the journey.
What surprised me most about fundraising was how generous people can be when they believe in a cause. It was amazing to see how many people were willing to donate to help Liam and others like him.
If you’re thinking of raising funds in support of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, I would say go for it! It’s an amazing organization that does incredible work, and there are so many ways you can get involved and make a difference.
I originally set a fundraising target of $500 and was blown away that we were able to raise almost $10k - sharing the fundraising page on social media and asking friends and family to donate"
