In memory of Anthony Maurice Goss

By S Brown

On 14 Sep 2026, it will be the 40th anniversary of the passing of Anthony Maurice Goss aged 24 yrs.
Anthony, a vibrant, caring nurse at Lidcombe State Hospital, was the beloved eldest son of Rose née Conaghan and Peter Goss (both dec) of West Ryde. A loving brother, nephew, grandson and cousin. And an amazing friend and colleague to many.

Anthony ‘Tony’ was a passionate, humble, big hearted man who died from Melanoma. First discovered at 21 yrs and successfully treated: Tony bravely fought the acceleration of his cancer, following a life changing accident in April 1985, where he had been randomly targeted by a motorist, resulting in 60 hours of surgery and many months of recovery.

In May 1986, following a brief return to nursing studies, the melanoma returned with a vengeance. Tony was given 8 weeks to live, and bravely fought till the September of 1986. He died at Neringah Hospice Wahroonga, and is buried with his parents at Macquarie Park Cemetery.

Tony loved to party, had an incredible capacity to stand up for those doing it tough, spoke compassionately for humanity and loved his beloved Ducati.

Loved always, remembered well, soaring high in the stars 🌟

Tony would have been so pleased with the incredible advances to find a cure for Melanoma, the amazing work of the late Professor Richard Scolyer & colleagues.

In loving memory of Tony Goss
