MY 'WHY' AND MY DONATION

Hi everyone,
My name is Phoenix Jude Wilczynski and I’m 8 years old.

My WHY:
In 2023 I lost both my DradDrad (Grandad) and my Grandpa to cancer within 3 months of one another. My Drad was fortunate enough to be treated at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and it was also the place we said our last goodbyes.

My DONATION:
I have been growing my hair for… a while… In fact I have been growing it my entire life as I’ve never had it cut! I’m known very well for my hair. My hair has grown down to the back of my knees.
To honour my Grandad (Drad) and Grandpa, I have decided to raise funds for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and then if my fundraising goal is achieved I hope to hold an event where I will cut my hair to donate it to the Kids With Cancer Foundation Wigs4Kids program.

I hope to have a few sponsors to come onboard to help me achieve my goal to donate to Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and my impressive hair to the Kids With Cancer Wigs4kids program.

With the funds I raise for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, I hope to support both the patients as well as their families, during the time their loved ones are in the hospital. When Drad was at Lifehouse, it was hard for our family to afford to stay close to spend the last weeks by his side and this is why I am so passionate about helping those who are going through a similar experience.

I hope to get lots of support from both my friends, family, local businesses whom I love and support and other organisations in my circles, to help me to help others in need and their families, in the footsteps of my Drad who lived his life this way.

When my fundraising goal is achieved, I will donate my hair to help children who are going through cancer or other medical journeys where they lose their hair. My hair has meant a lot to me over the years and I hope by creating this fundraiser and donating my hair, it can mean as much to other people going through their own journeys.
