What are the different ways that I can fundraise for Chris O'Brien Lifehouse?

How do I get started?

  4. Let us know how your fundraising is going! If you'd like to share your story and photos, email development.office@lh.org.au We are always looking for inspirational stories to feature online 
  5. Hosting an event offline? Fill in our Community Fundraising Proposal  and we'll send you an Authority to Fundraise letter.

Do I need permission to fundraise for Chris O'Brien Lifehouse?

If you are fundraising online and have created an online page, you will have accepted the terms and conditions. This gives you permission to fundraise on our behalf and all funds raised will come directly to Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.

If you are fundraising offline and holding an event, you need to complete the Community Fundraising Proposal form and we will provide you with an Authority to Fundraise letter. All funds must be submitted to Chris O'Brien Lifehouse promptly after your event. Please email or call 02 8514 0006 for bank details. We will then be very happy to thank you and share with you the impact you have made.

Can I use the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse logo?

We have a "Proudly Supporting" logo just for supporters like you, and once you create your online page or complete the Community Fundraising Proposal form, we'll send it to you.

Can I choose where my money goes?

Fundraising Online

How do I set up an online fundraising page?

You can create your fundraising page here. Simply enter your email address, choose a password and follow the prompts. You can add images and your story before you send the page link out to everyone you know.

Can people who donate to me get a tax-deductible receipt?

If you are fundraising online,  every donation of $2 or more made to your fundraising page will immediately receive a tax-deductible receipt via email. 

If you are holding an event, it depends on the type of support. Generally, if someone receives something for their money e.g. a meal, entry to an event, a raffle ticket, then this is not tax-deductible. If a donation is made to your fundraising, and the donor does not receive anything for their donation, then this is usually eligible for tax deductibility. I have cash that I want to add to my fundraising page - how do I do that?

If a donor gives you cash, you can deposit it into our bank account and we will add it your page. It will then be added to your total amount and the donor's name can be included. Please email or call us on 02 8514 0006 for bank details and a reference number.

Holding an Event

Can I hold an event for Chris O'Brien Lifehouse?

Yes! Many supporters host events including Golf Days, Dinners and Lunches. We are here to support your event, so please email or call 02 8514 0006 and talk through your plans with us.

Can you send me an Authority to Fundraise letter?

An Authority to Fundraise letter may be required if you are hosting an offline event such as a dinner, gala ball or golf day. This is not necessary if your fundraising is solely online.

Once you complete the Community Fundraising Proposal, we will send your letter to you.

Can you help to promote my event?

We can support you and help you to find ways to promote your event, via your social media, local media and through your support networks. We may be able to post about you and your story on our social media or website, but we cannot promote individual events  through our database. Check out our resources for posters, email signatures and more or email or call us on 02 8514 0006 to chat through your event.

Can someone from Chris O'Brien Lifehouse speak at my event?

Depending on your event and location, we may be able to provide a speaker or a pre-recorded video for your event. Please email or call 02 8514 0006 to discuss your needs.

General

Can you send me a tshirt or other merchandise?

We provide Chris O'Brien Lifehouse branded singlets for running events like City2Surf, once you raise $100 or more. 

We have Chris O'Brien Lifehouse branded shirts and caps that you receive,  once you meet fundraising targets through Go the Distance - our signature event held annually in August.

How do I send you the money I've raised?

If you are fundraising online, all funds will come directly to Chris O'Brien Lifehouse and there is nothing further you need to do.

If you have cash to add to an online page, please 6 email or call 02 8514 0006  for bank details and a reference number and we will add this to your total on your page once received.

If you are holding an event and collecting donations offline, please email or call 02 8514 0006 for bank details and a reference number.

We will also be in contact to say a BIG thank you for all you are doing for people with cancer and their families.
