Isla, Ruby, Isabel and Ava are just nine years old, but they all know someone who has been affected by cancer and they wanted to do something to help.
They decided as a group to raise money for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and came up with lots of ideas and plans.
Firstly, the girls ran a Tasty Café and baked and sold cakes, biscuits, and sweets. They even sold their delicious treats to grateful tradies on building sites! Next, they sold second-hand clothes, toys, and books, made and sold bracelets, and held a lolly guessing competition.
Showing their marketing skills, the girls ran letterbox drops, posted on social media community groups, and engaged everyone they knew. They raised $450 for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and also supported a local cat and dog shelter.
The girls were excited to receive their thank you certificates when they visited Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, but they were even more excited to meet Remi, our therapy dog.
Ruby’s mum, Nicole said “The thoughtfulness and spirit the girls displayed was amazing and they rallied the community, who responded so generously.”
We couldn’t agree more, and their support will lessen the impact of cancer on patients and their families- well done girls!
